Goats abounding

I went for a long drive this morning and saw two good sized mob of goats. Didn't have my phone with me unfortuately to give you the proof.
Water holes are drying out so it should be easier to get a pig at the right time of the day.
Lots of small smashed trees were sighted so I am guessing the deer are active too.
A small one was hit on the road this week.
For those interested in joing the club please email us directly.

Mislaid emails for regular hunters

We have been unable to contact some of our regular hunters as they came with someone else or their email may have changed (we had a few bounce backs to emails we sent). If you are a regular hunter to Milani and would like to be part of the hunt club please email us directly at milanitroutcottages@gmail.com or phone us.

January 23rd, 2023

Our club has not been as popular as we anticipated. We will, however, trial it for 2023 and then review the idea again. Send us your comments and suggestions.
Lots of mobs of goats around at present. Pigs are definistely only in the set areas as it has dried out surprisingly. Der with young have been spotted. We see them on the road fairly regularly now.

Field dressing

Recently one of our guests demonstrated his gear and his expert technique of field dressing his animal. It was  impressive to see how well prepared he was. He always carries a back pack with his water and emergency food but along with that he carries a very lightweight but extremely effective kit to skin and dress an animal in the bush. It was very light but had everything he needed to achieve a great outcome and keep his meat (and himself) clean .

Equipment easily carried in a back pack
There are the obvious tools for skinning but also lightweight disposable gloves, an emergency survival blanket to put on the ground to keep everything clean, some plastic bags to put various parts in, some hooks for hanging, and even water to wash hands or finished products. There was also muslin fabric bags to keep the flies away. One essential piece of advice was make sure everything is bright orange so you don't lose your valuable knives in the grass
